It was “Library Card Sign-Up Month” in September at the Guam Public Library System (GPLS). Observed since 1987, this is a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
Getting a library card is easy! You just need to fill out an application form at the Circulation Desk by visiting your nearest GPLS library in your village: Nieves M. Flores Memorial Library (Main Library) in Hagåtña, Agat (Maria R. Aguigui Memorial Library), Barrigada, Dededo, Merizo (Rosa Aguigui Reyes Memorial Library), or Yona., OR use the link above to register, and then you can come pick it up when its ready.
Anyone six years of age or older may apply for a card. Please note that some conditions apply. Children under 12 would need a guardian’s/parent’s signature when applying. Cards are issued upon receipt of your signed application form, AND 2 types of identifications with proof of mailing address.
GPLS would also like to inform the public that they are replacing the old library cards with new plastic cards. The new plastic cards feel like a credit card and it’s FREE! Tell a friend or a neighbor!
Bring your family in to apply for a new library card, it is ongoing!!! For more information, visit your nearest GPLS library, or check online at gpls.guam.gov. Call 475-4751 or 475-4752 and inquire with any Library Technician, or email to gpls@gpls.guam.gov. See you at your library!
